THE CLINICIAN BEHIND THE CREDENTIALS
Christine Sylvia, MS, OTR/L, CAPS, CBIS, ECHM, has directed therapy services at M & M Home Care since January 2015. She brings together advanced occupational therapy training, extensive work with complex injuries, and a practical understanding of what recovery demands outside a hospital or clinic.
For Christine, the important questions are not limited to a diagnosis. Can someone enter their home safely? Complete a daily routine? Access transportation as a passenger? Live independently, or do they need additional support? Her work transforms those real-life questions into careful evaluations and actionable, clinically supported recommendations.
She conducts specialized assessments throughout Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula. Families, treating professionals, independent Case Managers and personal injury attorneys turn to this kind of expertise when a person's abilities, environment and care needs require thoughtful, defensible analysis.
CLINICAL LEADERSHIP
Christine leads a multidisciplinary group of more than 20 occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, counselors and massage therapists. She oversees onboarding, clinical education, team meetings, documentation standards and policy development, while helping colleagues work through challenging clinical questions.
Her role also connects the clinical and operational sides of patient care. She collaborates with human resources and billing on sound processes and reimbursement compliance, and helps represent M & M Home Care at professional meetings and conferences. Her influence reaches beyond any single evaluation: it helps shape how the entire therapy team practices.
ADVANCED CLINICAL EVALUATIONS
Christine considers a person's injury-related limitations alongside the layout and barriers of the home. She develops detailed, reasoned recommendations to support safer access, movement and everyday function—not simply a list of renovations.

She assesses mobility and cognitive barriers to riding in a vehicle and works with vendors on appropriate passenger-access adaptations. Her current vehicle-modification work does not include driver-side evaluations.
Christine's experience with traumatic brain injuries informs her understanding of memory, judgment, behavior, safety and functional independence in daily life.

Information for attorneys →EXPERIENCE THAT INFORMS EVERY RECOMMENDATION
At Beaumont Health System (2015–2017), Christine practiced occupational therapy in acute orthopedics, including care involving joint replacements, spinal cord injury, spinal surgery and fractures. Her work included adaptive equipment, transfers, caregiver education and discharge planning.
Earlier, at Communicare Michigan (2014–2015), she delivered outpatient, in-home and community-based occupational therapy for people with traumatic brain injuries and coexisting mental health conditions. She developed experience in cognitive testing, independent living assessments, sensory and visual screening, and goal-setting focused on safety and independence.
Those experiences matter: they help Christine connect clinical findings with what actually happens when a person returns home and attempts to resume daily life.

A PERSON-CENTERED APPROACH
A bathroom doorway, a transfer into a car, a moment of uncertainty during an everyday task—small details can determine whether a person feels safe and independent. Christine's work is built around understanding those details, identifying what has changed after injury and recommending realistic solutions.
Her professional value is not measured only by how many letters follow her name. It is found in the thought she gives to difficult cases, the clinicians she mentors and the care she takes to make recommendations useful in the real world.
